Hackney has topped the list of the ‘Top 10 highest rent growth areas in London’, with a higher asking-rent increase than anyone else in Britain. New stats show how housing prices in the Hackney area of London have skyrocketed, with an average 2 bed flat commanding £700 more today than it did 10 years ago; an increase of 63%.
Increased investment and vast improvements to transport connections, combined with the rising cost of living in Central London has all fueled demand for and interest in Hackney as a place to live.
Rightmove’s Housing Market AnalystMiles Shipside comments: “Hackney has seen pretty heady increases in both asking rents and house prices in the area over the past ten years, as it has been transformed from a cheaper location into a more popular and higher-priced address. Its rise has been enhanced by the 2012 Olympics effect and improvements to transport links”.
At WSC we are committed to developing coworking office spaces in primes global locations, and in London, we are focused on the underserved zones 2-5. We have recently just launched our Haggerston coworking space, located in this prime Hackney Borough. The increase in rental prices illustrates the rising demand and interest for this area, and as commercial and residential property prices are interlinked, our investments subsequently increase in value.
